Are you using the Web or Desktop Version?
Before we can point you to the right steps, we need to confirm which version of the software you're using. RoutingBox and MedBatch each have a Web version and a Desktop version. This article will help you figure out which one you have in under a minute.
The quickest way to tell — look at your screen right now
The Web and Desktop versions look noticeably different. Here's what to look for:
Web versions (RoutingBox Web and MedBatch Web)
- Your menus are on the left side of the screen in a vertical sidebar
- The home screen shows a dashboard with charts and graphs when you first log in
- The interface is colorful — RoutingBox Web has a red header and left-side menu; MedBatch Web has a blue header and left-side menu
- You're viewing it inside a browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and there is an address bar at the top of your screen
Desktop versions (RoutingBox Desktop and MedBatch Desktop)
- Your menus are across the top of the application in a horizontal header bar — not on the side
- The interface is a simple gray color — there is no red, blue, or colorful sidebar
- There is no browser address bar — the program fills its own window
- You opened it by double-clicking an icon on your Windows desktop or taskbar
Quick visual check: Look at where your menus are. Side menu with color = Web. Gray top menu bar = Desktop. That's usually all you need.
RoutingBox Web
You're using RoutingBox Web if:
- You access RoutingBox by going to app.routingbox.com in a browser
- You see a red header and a red left-side navigation menu
- Your home screen shows a dashboard with charts and graphs
- There is no RoutingBox icon on your desktop or taskbar — you open it like a website
RoutingBox Desktop
You're using RoutingBox Desktop if:
- You open RoutingBox by double-clicking an icon on your Windows desktop or taskbar
- The menus are in a gray horizontal bar across the top of the application
- There is no colorful sidebar — the program has a simple gray appearance
- The program opens as a standalone application — not inside a browser
MedBatch Web
You're using MedBatch Web if:
- You access MedBatch through a browser (your account manager can confirm the exact URL if needed)
- You see a blue header and a blue left-side navigation menu
- Your home screen shows a dashboard with charts and graphs
- There is no MedBatch icon on your desktop — you open it like a website
MedBatch Desktop
You're using MedBatch Desktop if:
- You open MedBatch by double-clicking an icon on your Windows desktop or taskbar
- The menus are in a gray horizontal bar across the top of the application
- There is no colorful sidebar — the program has a simple gray appearance
- The program opens as a standalone application — not inside a browser
Why does this matter?
The features in the Web and Desktop versions are mostly the same, but the menus, button locations, and steps to complete tasks are different between the two. If you're following steps from an article and something doesn't look right on your screen, it's usually because the article is written for the other version.
Once you know which version you're on, let us know and we'll point you to the right article.
Still not sure? No problem — just describe what color your menus are, or tell us whether you see a side menu or a top menu, and we'll confirm which version you're on.
